Let's start from the basics: what even is entrepreneurship? Well, according to Econlib, "Entrepreneurship is the process of discovering new ways of combining resources. When the market value generated by this new combination of resources is greater than the market value these resources can generate elsewhere individually or in some other combination, the entrepreneur makes a profit."

Did you get that? (Don't worry, I didn't either haha)

Let me make this a little bit easier to understand with an example! An entrepreneur would take the fabric needed to make a shirt that would sell for $20 and instead would make it into a purse that sells for $50. Cool, right?

But that's just a simple example on the extremely broad scale of entrepreneurship. Each and every entrepreneur has their own story! To be 100% honest, everyone (even YOU!) has the potential to become a successful entrepreneur with lots of hard work, passion, and some creativity!

Here's 3 Things You Need to Become an Entrepreneur

  • A Strong Work Ethic

I know what you're thinking: "But you need a strong work ethic for everything!" That's true, but being your own boss as an entrepreneur means ensuring you make your own deadlines and stick to them. While you're not forced to follow other people's rules, you need to know exactly when it's time to work and when it's time to have fun. It's important that entrepreneurs are able to manage time well and work well under pressure and when it really matters. You wear all the hats as an entrepreneur, so be sure you're willing to work!

  • Passion and Dedication

When you set out to become an entrepreneur, it's essential that you create something you're passionate about. As much as it may suck, hard days are inevitable, and there's a good chance you may want to give up. But knowing that you love what you're doing is the best way to convince yourself that it'll all be worth it in the end. So, yeah, I'd say passion is priceless.

  • Creativity

Personally, I think that creativity is one of the most valuable characteristics in any entrepreneur. There's no set path when you create something of your own. You make most of it up along the way (which is what i'm doing as i type this blog post!), and it's crucial that you're able to think on your feet and be creative to keep yourself going.

While this isn't a comprehensive list of everything you need to be a successful entrepreneur, it's a great place to start!
